Stinging insect allergy testing

In all patients who have had allergic symptoms and/or anaphylaxis after being stung by an insect, a good history is vital. If further testing is needed, skin testing can be performed for fire ants, one of the most common culprits. Blood testing for IgE to yellow jackets, wasps, hornets and honeybees can also be performed, if necessary.
